The current-generation Corvette has been an impressive success, and Chevrolet recently announced that it would be expanding customers’ options with the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. While the Z06 is not a new Corvette in concept, this particular Z06 looks unlike any other that has come before it. Perhaps the most notable change is that the Z06 is much wider than the Stingray models that are currently available at our location serving Austin. This includes wider fenders, wider quarter panels and wider front and rear fascias. The Z06 also has a spoiler and ground effects that are unique to it, and these are not just there for aesthetics. In fact, Chevrolet has already revealed what some of them will be. For those familiar with the current cockpit, the first thing that will jump out at them is the square steering wheel. Chevrolet has also added dedicated buttons the center console that provides access to common controls from a relaxed position. The instrumentation cluster is different than in the standard model, and Chevrolet has added special seating with exclusive stitching and other accents. While we have not seen them yet, Chevrolet will also offer two distinct cabin packages that emphasize carbon fiber.

Powertrain is by far the most intriguing aspect of any 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 review. After all, the Z06 has always been the more track-oriented version of the Vette, and this edition is no exception. It comes as no surprise that the Z06 will have an engine that is exclusive to it. It is a 5.5-liter V8 that smashes out an impressive 670 horsepower. Those that have heard it in person have compared it to the roar of a Ferrari, and that is not surprising when you consider the vehicles Chevrolet is targeting with its mid-engine design. The V8 will be mated to a dual-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission, and that transmission will naturally send power to the rear wheels. Chevrolet engineers have also reduced the weight, added performance brakes and built up the chassis to handle the racetrack performance.

The Z06 features a high-definition color touchscreen that is integrated into the multilevel dash, and you can expect all the bells and whistles, such as voice commands, smartphone integration and navigation. This model comes with a valet mode that allows you to track your bad behavior. It also has a performance data recorder in addition to a rearview monitor. We know that rear parking sensors will be standard and the options will include a multi-view camera system and a blind-spot monitor, but beyond that, we will have to wait until Chevrolet release a more comprehensive list.
